2 KU students break hunger strike after 7 days

Two students of Khulna University, who have been on a hunger strike since January 19 demanding the withdrawal of their suspension order, broke their strike after the university authorities assured them of fulfilling their demand.

KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Fayekuzzaman gave them the assurance and let the two students drink a glass of juice in front of the university administrative building this evening.

A group of teachers and students were present at the time, reports our Khulna correspondent from the spot.

Talking to our correspondent, Md Mubarak Hossain Noman, one of the two students, said, "We took the decision to break the hunger strike after getting assurance of the withdrawal of the expulsion order from the university authorities, and considering the overall situation."

Noman, an 18th batch student of KU Bangla department, was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) yesterday evening while Imamul Islam, a 17th batch student of KU history and civilization department, was admitted to KMCH on Sunday after after they fell sick.

Today, both students again started observing the hunger strike, added our correspondent.
