On July 7, assailants attacked the Sholakia Eidgah of Kishoreganj where the traditionally largest Eid congregation in the country takes place each year.

They attacked policemen with sharp weapons, guns and bombs. In total, four people, including two policemen, an innocent woman and another assailant, were killed.

A machete was found from one of the assailants caught at the scene. The machete link was found in the grisly killings of secular activists, writers and members of religious minorities in Bangladesh.

The attack came barely six days after the gruesome attack on a restaurant in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone where alleged Islamic State gunmen killed 20 hostages and two police officers in 12-hour-long siege.
