A Chittagong court today placed three members of banned Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), who were arrested yesterday, on a five-day remand in a case filed for terrorist activities.

Metropolitan Magistrate Rahmat Ali passed the order this afternoon after police produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Detectives early yesterday arrested Naimur Rahman Nayan, Faisal Mahmud and Shawkat Russell and recovered the MK-11 semiautomatic sniper rifle while conducting a raid in a rented flat of JMB’s regional commander at Amanbazar on the city outskirts.

Today police sought their remand to find their connection with another case filed on October 7 with Karnaphuli Police Station under the Arms Act-1878, Anti-Terrorism Act-2009 and Explosive Substances Act-1908.
