US-Bangla plane crash: 13 medical students were on board

At least 13 Nepali students of Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital in Sylhet were in the US Bangla aircraft that crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport this afternoon.

Condition of three of them are stated to be critical while two were taken to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Nepal, Mytrayee Dev Roy, a teacher of the medical college, told The Daily Star.

They were returning to Kathmunda from Bangladesh after finishing their final examinations, said Roy, also an associate professor of the medical college.

The condition of the students after the crash could not be known yet. 

Following the accident, authorities of the Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital suspended tomorrow's all academic activities including examination.

"We suspended tomorrow's examination and announced three days of mourning following the plane crash," Abed Hossain, principal of the medical college, told The Daily Star over phone.    

"The exact condition of the causality of our students has yet been ascertained," Hossian added.
