SC lawyer seeks Shajahan’s termination
Sends memorandum to president, PM
A Supreme Court lawyer today urged the president and the prime minister for taking necessary steps to terminate Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan for “supporting the strike” enforced by the transport workers protesting two verdicts.
Eunus Ali Akond sent copies of a memorandum to President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Bangabhaban and Prime Minister’s Office in this regard.
In the memorandum, Akond claimed that Minister Shajahan provoked the transport workers for enforcing the strike protesting two court judgments which is tantamount to contempt of court and breach of a minister’s oath.

The action of the minister is also “unconstitutional” and “seditious” as defined under article 7A of the constitution, SC lawyer Akond said in the memorandum.

A minister shall never act against the government and in favour of the strike. He has no right to hold the post of a minister, Akond mentioned in the memorandum citing a report published in The Daily Star today.
In the report, Shajahan said, “There is no strike, the workers have voluntarily abstained from work. They did not call any strike.”
