Slain MP Liton laid to rest in Gaibandha

Slain ruling Awami League lawmaker of Gaibandha Manzurul Islam Liton was laid to rest at his family graveyard in Sundarganj upazila of the district today.

Liton, who was shot dead  in his house two days ago, was buried at his  Mastarpara  village following a namaz-e-janaza  after Asr prayers, our local correspondent reports.

Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Fazle Rabbi Miah, Jahangir Kabir Nanok, state minister for the LGRD, Mahbub Ara Begum Gini, lawmaker of Gaibandha-2, and local leaders and activists of the party and people from all walks of life attended the namaz-e-janaza.

This morning, a namaz-e-janaza was held at South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad in Dhaka. The janaza was attended by his parliament colleagues and other dignitaries.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with her cabinet colleagues, lawmakers and AL leaders paid rich tributes to their leader at South Plaza at 10:05am.
