BB heist: Probe report to be made public end of September

The complete probe report of the US$101 million heist from Bangladesh Bank will be made public at the end of this month, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said today.

“We will make the report public on September 21 or 22,” Finance Minister MA Muhith told reporters at his ministry office in Dhaka.

On April 20, the government-made probe committee submitted its preliminary report to the finance minister.

The three-member panel, led by former Bangladesh Bank governor Mohammed Farashuddin, was formed almost one month after it was learnt that the money was stolen by hackers.

Cyber criminals stole US$101 million from Bangladesh Bank’s account with Federal Reserve Bank in New York in February this year.

The incident came to light several days later.
