Zubair murder verdict now Feb 8

A Dhaka court today rescheduled the verdict of Jahangirnagar University student Zubair Ahmed murder case for February 8 as the jail authorities failed to produce the accused before it on security ground following the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s ongoing hartal.

Judge ABM Nizamul Haque of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 of Dhaka was scheduled to pronounce the verdict today.

Zubair Ahmed, an honours final year student of English, was tortured and stabbed allegedly by some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League on January 8, 2012. He succumbed to his injuries in a Dhaka hospital the following day.
