Youth initiative Briddhi launched

Briddhi, a non-profit youth organisation that works on the needs of children, was officially launched in Pairabandh Farmer Center, Mithapukur, Rangpur, on September 28.

Briddhi, founded by Israt Sharmin Keya, aims to provide holistic, grassroots-based solutions that ensure the best possible standard of living for every child. Working with local communities, Briddhi's initiatives include access to healthcare, nutrition, skills development, and providing recreational spaces for children with special needs.

With its focus on reaching the most vulnerable and ignored communities, Briddhi began their journey by launching a nutrition campaign and a needs-based survey of women farmers focusing on their concerns for the wellbeing of their children. Later in the programme, Briddhi launched their Call to Action initiative where children with special needs are documented for social media activism, and their issues are addressed.

"Despite the growth of the garments and IT industry, which are definitely commendable, agriculture remains the backbone of Bangladesh. It just felt right that we launch Briddhi to recognise our unsung heroes, and take care of their children, as they take care of feeding 160 million people",  Israt Sharmin Keya, President, Briddhi mentioned at the launching programme, after paying tribute to Begum Rokeya at her birthplace in Pairabandh.

In attendance were Farzeen Ferdous Alam, an economist and development worker who serves as Vice President of Briddhi, Md Moniruzzaman, General Manager of JOIKKO AGRO LTD, the agriculture community partner of Briddhi and Aizar Islam, President of Pairbandh Agriculture Committee.
