RU clashes: One arrested after university admin filed case

Police have arrested a person in a case filed by Rajshahi university administration following yesterday's clash between students and locals.

The arrestee is Taslim Ali alias Peter, 45, a transport worker, said Rafiqul Alam, additional deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

Taslim was arrested after the university administration filed a case against 400 to 500 unidentified people with Motihar Police Station this afternoon, said the police official. The case was filed accusing the unidentified people of beating, assaulting and injuring students, he added.

The clashes took place in the city's Binodpur area near the university campus yesterday evening, leaving more than 220 people injured.
