UIU’s ‘IdeaStorm 2021’ concludes

United International University (UIU) Robotics Club organised "IdeaStorm 2021" online recently.

Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of UIU was present as the Chief Guest and Munir Hasan, Head, Prothom Alo, Youth Program, was present as the Special Guest in the inaugural ceremony.

Professor Dr Md Sazzad Hossain, Honourable Member, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and Director, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL), was present as the Chief Guest in the closing ceremony. The welcome address was delivered by Prof Dr Salekul Islam, Head, Dept of CSE, UIU.

School, college and universities students from all over the country participated in the competition through two departments. A total of 91 teams, including BUET, CUET, CUET, Dhaka University students participated in the senior section and 43 teams including Notre Dame College, St. Joseph's School and College, Vikarunnisa Noon School and College, Adamjee Cantonment School and College students participated in the junior section.

The winners were selected after they presented their ideas and answered questions in front of the judges, after passing various stages in the competition. The judge panel consisted of highly experienced academicians from different universities, IT experts, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders.  

EcoKnowMe of Notre Dame College were the champion of the junior category, while  the first  runner up were Wastech of Adamjee Cantonment College and the second runner up were ASHAA of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College.

 ABSOLUTE DUO of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology were the champion of the senior category, while the first runner up were Brain Tweezers of Dhaka University and the second runner up were Team Shobdo-Kolpo-Drum of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

The winners in both categories were rewarded with BDT 20,000, Tk 15000, and Tk 10,000 for the first prize, second prize, and third prize respectively.

Faculty members, officials, students and other distinguished guests were present in the virtual programme.
