Students of Grade 8 and 9 are attending in-person classes one day in a week but they need to attend classes two days each week from September 20, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Director Belal Hossain said today.

Class 8 students will need to attend on Sunday and Thursday while students of class 9 need to attend on Saturday and Wednesday from September 20, the DSHE director told The Daily Star this evening.

However, candidates of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations of 2021 and 2022 will continue their classes every day, he said.

Students of Grades 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 are attending in-person classes once a week.

The students of class 6 and 7 will need to attend on Monday and Tuesday, the top official added.

The DSHE sent a directive to the head masters of all schools and colleges regarding a new routine, he said.

In-person classes at schools and colleges resumed on September 12 after 543 days of closure due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Candidates of HSC and SSC exams of 2021 and 2022 and this year's Primary Education Completion Examination (PECE) and its equivalent exams are attending classes every day.

Students of pre-primary sections like play group and nursery will not have to return to their classrooms right now.
