Prof Sabbir Sattar appointed new VC of RU

Prof Dr Golam Shabbir Sattar has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University (RU), three months after the tenure of his predecessor Prof M Abdus Sobhan expired.

A gazette notification was issued by the education ministry in this regard today.

President Abdul Hamid, chancellor of the university, appointed Prof Golam Shabbir Sattar --  a former teacher of the Geology and Mining Department -- for the next four years, the notification said.

Sabbir Sattar is the director of the Institute of Environmental studies of the university. He was also the Student Adviser of the university during 2009-12.
