In-person classes at DU to resume on Oct 17

The authorities of Dhaka University yesterday decided to resume academic activities, including in-person classes, from October 17.

The decision was made at a meeting of the academic council held virtually in the afternoon. The meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof M Akhtaruzzaman.

Prof Abul Mansur Ahmed, chairman of mass communication and journalism department and a member of the university's syndicate, confirmed the development to The Daily Star.

"The academic council has decided to resume academic activities," he said, adding that students are asked to take at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine before attending in-person classes.

"All departments and institutes were asked to take in-person and virtual classes. Departments with fewer students can take all their classes in person if they want, but all departments have to ensure that at least 60 percent classes are held in person," he added.

In-person classes at DU have been suspended since March 18 last year due to the pandemic.
