Due to the rapid surge in coronavirus infections, no students would be allowed to attend in-person classes without getting vaccinated, said the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary today.

"All students aged between 12 to 18 have been instructed to get vaccinated within January 15," an order issued by the department reads.

The department also issued five instructions for the successful implementation of the vaccination programme taken up for the students.

The heads of the concerned educational institutions must ensure the attendance of the students at the vaccination centres on the day fixed for taking vaccines, stated the order.

At the same time, heads of institutions would have to send a required number of teachers to a vaccination centre so that they can ensure discipline at the centre, it said.

Officers and employees of all secondary and higher education zones, district education offices, upazila or thana secondary education offices cannot leave the workplace without the prior approval of higher authorities while the vaccination programme is in progress.

District education officers would be in constant touch with the concerned deputy commissioners and civil surgeons and will make efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of the vaccination programme.
