No PEC exams this year: Ministry

The Primary and Mass Education Ministry has taken decision that there will be no Primary Education Completion Examinations (PECE) this year.

The ministry's Public Relations Officer Mahbubur Rahman today (June 6, 2022) said the exams will not take place as it is not part the new curriculum.

The ministry recently took the decision of scrapping of exams for this year and government will make official announcement regarding the matter soon, he added.

New curriculum does not propose public exams before class 10. The new curriculum, which is set to be implemented in phases from January 2023, will be fully implemented by 2025.

PEC exams were not held in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The exams were introduced in 2009.
