In-person classes to resume at DU from Oct 17

The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) have decided to resume academic activities including in-person classes from October 17.

This decision was taken at a virtual Academic Council Meeting, held this afternoon presided over by the university's Vice Chancellor Prof M Akhtaruzzaman.

Prof Abul Mansur Ahmed, chairman of mass communication and journalism dept and also a member of the university's syndicate confirmed the latest development to The Daily Star.

"The Academic Council has taken the decision to resume academic activities," he said, adding that students were asked to take at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine before attending the class and to maintain proper health guidelines.

"All departments and institutes were asked to take in-person and virtual classes. Small department can take all their classes in person if they want but departments have to ensure at least 60 percent classes are taken in-person," he added.

The academic activities of Dhaka University remained shut since March 18, 2020 to curb the spread of coronavirus.
