Amid protests among university students -- including from the Dhaka University -- restricting women's clothing, a section of students from Jahangirnagar University have stood in favor of freedom to wear whatever dress a woman wishes to.

Students of the 47th batch under Department of Anthropology formed a human chain at the foot of Amar Ekushey sculpture in the campus this afternoon (August 28, 2022) demanding to ensure the freedom of women's clothing, reports our JU correspondent.

During the programme, they showed various posters where statements made against the freedom of women's clothing in recent times have been strongly criticised.

"It should be such that everyone should wear dresses as per their own will. We want to stop trying to bind women," Mahfuzur Rahman, who joined the human chain programme, told this correspondent.

One of the organizers, Yasser Samin, shared some pictures of the human chain from his Facebook account.

In the pictures, the students can be seen standing with various posters. In some, it is written -- "Hair style does not make men scientists, it makes them products," some other say, "Stop seducing the opposite sex by exposing bare skin."
