Yaba worth Tk 7.50cr seized in Ctg

About 1.40 lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets worth around Tk 7.5 crore was seized in a raid in the Bay area adjacent to Chittagong’s port city today, Bangladesh Navy claimed.

Navy’s anti-smuggling cell launched a crackdown in the outer anchorage area of Chittagong port and spotted a suspicious wooden boat, our local correspondent reports quoting Jasimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of the cell who led the drive.

“We carried out the raid on a tip-off. About 1.40 lakh pieces of contraband yaba was seized. They are worth around Tk 7.5 crore in the current market,” he said.

No one was held as the band of smugglers managed to flee. Their boat was also seized.
