India, China end military-level talks for disengagement of troops in eastern Ladakh

India and China wrapped up marathon military-level talks aimed at taking forward the process of disengagement of their troops and weapons at friction points in eastern Ladakh, official sources said today.

The tenth round of corps commander-level talks at Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control lasted for 16 hours beginning at around 10am local time yesterday and ended at 2am today, they said.

According to the sources, the focus of the talks was to take forward the disengagement process in friction points like Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang in eastern Ladakh.

There was no official word on the talks so far.

In the talks, India is learnt to have insisted on a faster disengagement process in areas like Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang to bring down tension in the region.

Last evening, sources had said that bringing down the tension in the region was the broad priority of the talks in order to de-escalate the situation in the region.

The disengagement process began on February 10.
