Dhaka-Delhi ties reach comprehensive platform
Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali today said Dhaka's ties with New Delhi have reached a multi-dimensional and comprehensive platform benefitting the peoples of the two closest neighbours.
He said the two countries will now have to proceed to establish a win-win equation to benefit not only the two neighbours but the entire region.
The envoy was speaking on "India-Bangladesh relations" at Kautilya Fellowship Programme organized by India Foundation, said a press release of Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.
Young diplomats and academics from 32 countries are taking part in the programme.
The envoy quoted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as saying that Bangladesh-India relations have become a "role model" for "Neighbourhood Diplomacy". Modi's remarks came when Bangladesh's new Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen called on him during his first visit to India early this month.
Syed Muazzem said, "We should showcase this model of relations to the world, in the form of research and study at the University level, in the form of thesis, PhD etc. In that sense you are lucky that you are having a lecture on a "role model neighbourhood relations", which is passing through a "Golden Chapter" and the "best ever" one under the leadership of two Prime Ministers Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi.
He further said India-Bangladesh relation has gone beyond the strategic partnership level and now encompasses all aspects of the bilateral cooperation.
"We are confident that the landslide victory of our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party Awami League at the recently held 11th Parliamentary Elections of Bangladesh for the 4th term and 3rd consecutive term, will enable us to further consolidate and expand the ever-increasing bilateral ties with our closest neighbour India, based on shared vision and mutuality of interest," he said.
The high commissioner said he is satisfied that India-Bangladesh cooperation is expanding in the multifarious areas like security, energy, connectivity, trade and Commerce, defence, culture, and people to people contact.
