Bangladeshi detained by BSF on Phulbari border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) detained a Bangladesh national on Khalisakothal border in Kurigram's Phulbari upazila today.

Nurnabi Islam (33), a resident of Khochabari village in the upazila, used to work in a brick kiln in Delhi without valid documents, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports.

Commanding Officer (CO) of Lalmonirhat BGB-15 battalion Lieutenant Colonel SM Tawhid-ul-Alam confirmed the incident.

The process of having the Bangladeshi worker returned to the country is underway, he said.

He was detained by the BSF troops from near border pillar no. 934 when entering Bangladesh from India early today.

According to locals and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Nurnabi had been working as a labourer in a brick field in Delhi for a long period. He was detained by a patrol team of 38 BSF Battalion's Karala camp in Coochbehar district.
