A medical board of India's top state-owned hospital All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi today ruled out murder in the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and said it was "a case of hanging and death by suicide".

AIIMS' forensic chief Dr Sudhir Gupta said that the six-member board, in its conclusive medico-legal opinion to the Central Board of Investigation which is probing 34-year-old Rajput's death, dismissed claims of "poisoning and strangling" made in the case of the actor's death.

"It is a case of hanging and death by suicide. We have submitted our conclusive report to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)," our New Delhi correspondent reports quoting Gupta, who is also the Chairman of the forensic medical board.

There was no injury on the body other than that of hanging. Also, there was no mark of struggle and scuffle, he said, but refused to divulge any further details stating the case is sub-judice.

Rajput (34), was found dead in his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14.

The CBI had taken over the probe into the alleged abetment to suicide case filed by the actor's father K K Singh in Patna, capital city of the eastern Indian state of Bihar, against Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family. Bihar is Rajput's home state.

Earlier this week, the CBI had said that it has not reached any conclusion in Rajput's death case and that all aspects of the case were under probe.
