Govt wants peaceful solution to Rohingya crisis: Law minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq today said the government wants the Rohingya crisis to be resolved in a peaceful manner and the foreign ministry is working to this effect.

"The incidents with the Rohingyas are internal matter of Myanmar, but they cannot be brutally killed and cannot be forced to leave their country. Our foreign ministry is working so that international pressure is made on Myanmar to stop such activities. The foreign ministry has achieved some success and will continue to do so," he said.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after attending as the chief guest at a meeting during the inauguration of a training course for newly appointed assistant judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka.   

A total of 45 assistant judges are participating in the two-month-long training course.

"We have considered the humanitarian aspect in order to solve the Rohingya crisis and that is why we are giving shelter to the Rohingyas," Anisul Huq said.

The law minister added that it is a matter to be decided by the Rohingyas on whether they will approach the international court to get redress.
