Eclipse spectacle set to grip US public

Millions of sky-gazers staked out viewing spots across the United States yesterday to see the Sun briefly disappear behind the Moon, in the first total solar eclipse in 99 years to cast a shadow on the entire continent. Many people who have seen eclipses in the past describe the experience as an emotional one.
