US author Toni Morrison, the first black woman to be presented the Nobel Prize in Literature, died at the age of 88.

Zimbabwe’s autocratic leader Robert Mugabe, ousted by the military in 2017 after 37 years in power, died aged 95.

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, founder of one of the world’s largest NGOs, Brac, and credited with lifting nearly 150 million people out of poverty, died at the age of 83.
