India extends suspension of flight till July 15

India today extended suspension of scheduled international passenger flights in the country till July 15 due to the outbreak of the Covid-19.

Some international scheduled services on selected routes, however, may be permitted on a case-by-case basis amid the prevailing situation.

Scheduled international passenger flights were suspended in India on March 23 due to the pandemic of coronavirus.

"The competent authority has decided that the scheduled international commercial passenger services to or from India shall remain suspended till 2359 hrs IST of July 15, 2020," said India's civil aviation sector regulator.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation circular also added, "however, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case-to-case basis."

Air India and other private domestic airlines have been operating unscheduled international repatriation flights under the Vande Bharat Mission which began on May 6.

India resumed scheduled domestic passenger flights on May 25, after a gap of two months.

India's Covid-19 cases crossed the 17,000 mark today pushing the total tally to 4, 90, 401 while the death toll climbed to 15,301, according to the health ministry data.
