Mir Quasem execution: Pakistan National Assembly passes resolution

Despite Dhaka’s strong protest for repeated interference in Bangladesh's internal affairs, the National Assembly of Pakistan today passed an unanimous resolution strongly condemning the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali in Bangladesh.

The Pakistan National Assembly resolution, moved by Sher Akbar Khan, MP, said the execution of the Jamaat leader is contrary to the tripartite agreement signed by Pakistan, India and Bangladesh in 1974.

It also demanded the government to seriously raise at all the international forums against the sentencing of political opponents in Bangladesh.

The National Assembly adopted the resolution today with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair, according to a report of Radio Pakistan.

The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry on September 4 summoned the acting High Commissioner of Pakistan in Dhaka Samina Mehtab and handed over a strongly worded note verbale to protest Pakistan Foreign Ministry’s statement following execution of war criminal Mir Quasem Ali.
