NO HONEYMOON FOR NOW

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will delay heading off for their honeymoon, instead attending a birthday party for his father Prince Charles just days after marrying in a ground-breaking ceremony that blended the modern with the traditional. After a day that saw the couple exchange vows in a medieval chapel at Windsor Castle under the gaze of royals, celebrities, and a global television audience of many millions, Harry and Meghan spent Saturday evening partying with friends in privacy. Here are few details you might have missed from Saturday's dazzling wedding ceremony:

LITTLE TOO LONG

US pastor Michael Curry, who fired up the wedding with his power of love speech, admitted afterwards that his 13-and-a-half-minute speech had over-run somewhat.

WHAT'S IN A DRESS?

Markle's wedding dress featured designs of wintersweet, which grows in front of Nottingham Cottage where she and Harry live, and, from the Los Angeles girl's homeland, the California Poppy state flower. It also included flowers from all 53 Commonwealth nations, including Ear of Sorghum and Cat's Claw from Botswana and Red Stinkwood from Cameroon. Her veil was held in place by queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara, made in 1932, with the central brooch dating from 1893. Her bouquet included myrtle sprigs are from stems planted by queen Victoria in 1845, and a plant grown from the myrtle used in Queen Elizabeth II's wedding bouquet of 1947.

SIX MILLION TWEETS

Between 2200 GMT Friday and 1800 GMT Saturday, 5,958,379 tweets had been posted worldwide on the royal nuptials, 4.5 million bearing the hashtag #RoyalWedding, Visibrain said. That compared with 1,774,435 tweets across a similar timespan for Harry's older brother Prince William, when he married Kate Middleton back on April 29, 2011 when Twitter, founded in 2006, was in its relative infancy.

HONEYMOON DESTINATION

So far, the destination of their honeymoon is unknown, with some media guessing they might travel to Botswana, possibly to an exclusive safari camp which the couple visited in August last year, just a few months before they announced their engagement. Harry sourced the diamond in Meghan's engagement ring from Botswana, the world's biggest producer.
