France slaps sanction on JeM chief

A couple of days after China put a “technical hold” on the UN Security Council's efforts to designate Jaiesh-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, France on Friday sanctioned him at the national level by freezing his assets. This was conveyed by French Foreign Minister Le Drian to Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during a telephonic conversation. Le Drian also told Swaraj that France has raised the issue with the European Union for putting Azhar in the list of European Union list of terrorists.
