Air India flight stopped over bomb scare at Kolkata airport

Authorities of Air India today stopped boarding of one of its flights as a caller claimed about a bomb on board, reports NDTV.

An Air India check-in counter at Kolkata airport received a call from a woman claiming that there is a bomb on its Guwahati-bound flight. The call was received before the flight was scheduled to take-off.

Boarding was stopped and the plane is in isolation, where a bomb detection and disposal squad is inspecting it.

A woman called Air India at 8:20am and alerted them about a suspected bomb on the 09:30am flight to Guwahati. Security was called in immediately and boarding for 114 passengers was stopped.

Security in and around the airport has been put on high alert.
