2018 OIC meet to be held in Dhaka

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has decided to hold its 45th session of Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Dhaka in 2018.

Senior officials meeting preparatory to the CFM ended Tuesday in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia deciding on Dhaka as the venue of the foreign ministers’ meeting.

A draft resolution was unanimously adopted welcoming the bid of Bangladesh for hosting the meet, said a press release of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque led the Bangladesh delegation at the meeting which also decided on many important issues for the betterment of lives of Muslim Ummah.

The meeting also adopted a number of resolutions, including one on the Rohingya minorities.

OIC called for early implementation of recommendations of the Advisory Commission on Northern Rakhine State led by Kofi Annan, and also restoration of Citizenship Act of Myanmar.

It also called for sustainable repatriation of Rohingyas from Bangladesh back to Myanmar.
