Woman, minor die as truck ploughs through Gopalganj house

An elderly woman and her minor grandchild were killed this morning when a truck veered off the road and ploughed through their house in Kasiani upazila of Gopalganj.

The victims were identified as Rashida Begum, 60, and her grandchild Laila Khanom, 6. They died on the spot, reports our Gopalganj correspondent quoting police.

The incident took place around 8:00am when a cement-laden truck skidded off the road and crashed into a road-side house on the Rajpat-Jalirpar road, said Rathindranath Tarafdar, sub-inspector of Ramdia Police Outpost.

This time however, both the vehicle and its driver were detained, the SI said.
