Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League, threatened to cull top BNP leaders “like stray dogs” after the clash with BNP supporters today.
“We will counter the attack on Chhabi Biswas within three days,” BCL’s General Secretary Siddique Nazmul Alam said through a Facebook post around 6:30pm today.
“Will beat the top BNP leaders like stray dogs,” he threatened.
The Facebook status gained several thousand likes and 270 comments in an hour. In the comment thread, Nazmul’s followers provided encouragement to execute his announcement.
Sources said that Nazmul is currently staying in Thailand for treatment.
Today, BCL activists clashed with supporters of BNP at Dhaka’s Bakshibazar area for over an hour during a graft case hearing of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

BNP supporters torched the vehicle of Chhabi Biswas, ruling Awami League lawmaker from Netrokona-1, near Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) during the clash.
At least five people were injured and one Afzaz Hossain, a Dhania University third year student, was held and jailed for two years for organising riot.
