War crimes charges pressed against 2 Chapainawabganj ‘Razakars’

Prosecution today pressed three charges against two alleged war criminals of Chapainawabganj for their alleged crimes against humanity committed in the district during the country’s 1971 Liberation War.

The accused are Mahidur Rahman, 84, of Dadanchak village, and Afsar Hossain alias Chutu, 65, of Satrosia village, of Chapainawabganj.

The charges brought against the duo include mass killing, arson, looting, abduction, torture, confinement, and murder committed in the district in 1971.

After the prosecution submitted the charge-sheet, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 fixed November 24 to decide whether it will accept the charges. It also directed the jail authorities to keep the war crimes suspects detained until that date.

The accused, who were arrested on September 16 in a criminal case, were produced before the court today.
