Waterlogging disrupts Ctg city life (video)

Lives of Chittagong city dwellers have been highly disrupted due to waterlogging in most areas of the city caused due to three days of heavy rainfall.

From VIP roads to houses and shops in the low lying areas, rain water has stagnated from to knee to waist level. As a result people are suffering unbound miseries living their everyday lives.

Incessant rain has flooded most roads and low lying areas of Oxygen, Muradpur, Bahadderhat, Sulakbahar, Katalgonj, Nasirabad, Bayezid, Sholoshohor, Chawkbazar, Panchlaish, Chandgaon, KB Amanali Road, Bakolia, Dewanbazar, Halishahar, Agrabad CDA, Pahartali, Mile er matha, and Patenga in the city.

Due to water flooding the roads and inside the shops, traders are not able to run their businesses. Office and college going people are suffering from transportation problem. Even if they get any vehicle, it does not go all the way. They have to walk wading across the murky water or rickshaws paying high fare.

As the city’s water-drainage system is not effective, many city roads and low areas become waterlogged even with moderate rain. The heavy rain in last few days have increased the peoples’ sufferings significantly. Meteorological office says the heavy rain will continue for few more days. In that case, it is likely that the sufferings will continue too.
