Shabby upkeep of Dhaka public hospitals (video)

Despite several marked improvements in the public health sector, authorities are yet to make public hospitals to host a warm welcome to the commoners.

Shabby upkeep of surroundings, fronts used as dumping yards and premises occupied by illegal vendors – are what the common people have to struggle through to get medicare.

The Daily Star Online walked through Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka where the largest cluster of public hospitals is located and spoke to authorities concerned in this regard.

Entrances and surroundings of most of these hospitals are found to be dumped with waste materials and illegal shops

The hospitals pictured in this video are: National Institute of Ophthalmology (NIO),National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor)

National Shishu (Children) Hospital, National Institute of Mental Health & Research (NIMH&R), National Institute of Kidney Diseases & Urology (NIKDU), National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (SSMCH).
