Miscreants vandalised two idols in a Hindu temple in Nazirpur upazila in Pirojpur last night.

Heads of a Kali idol and a Sarashwati idol kept inside the Sri Sri Pronob Math and Asrom temple in Srirumkathi area were separated by the attackers, said Md Malek Bepary, chairman of Srirumkathi union.
Early in the morning, locals found the idols vandalised and informed the matter to the local administration, he told our Pirojpur correspondent.
Nazirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), the upazila chairman and the Superintendent of Police in Pirojpur visited the spot.

The vandalism was carried out to create anarchy among the general people, Nazirpur upazila chairman Amulya Ranjan Halder told The Daily Star adding that Nazirpur is a calm and quiet place where no displeasing incident has occurred during the political unrest of the country for last few months.

“We will take steps against the criminals,” said SM Akhtaruzzaman, superintendent of police in Pirojpur.
