Two films from Bangladesh at Rainbow Film Festival

Two films from Bangladesh at Rainbow Film Festival

Two documaentaries from Bangladesh –Bratto Amin's “36-24-36” and Shabnam Ferdousi's “Bish Kabyo -- The Poison Teller” have been selected for the upcoming 15th Rainbow Film Festival, London. The films were selected – along with 13 others – from the 13th Dhaka International Film Festival package, said a notification from the Rainbow Film Society.
“Bish Kabyo – The Poison Teller” is the story of daily lives of the hawkers who sell rat and roach poisons, and an analogy of the insects to the impoverished populace in the capital. “36-24-36”, on the other hand, is a bold take on how women are stereotyped and put in a 'frame' of character and personality by the male-dominated society, be it with the use of capitalism, or religion.  The Rainbow Film Festival will take place from Sunday 25 May to 1 June 2014 at Genesis Cinema, Rich Mix Centre and in Tarling Centre, London.
