The Tuba Group will be compelled for paying salaries to its officials and workers for the month of July by Sunday.

“We have already paid salaries to 1,300 out of 1,450 workers of Tuba Group and the rest will get paid. We will mount pressure on the owner of the group so that he will be forced to pay the salaries,” said State Minister for Labour and Employment Affairs Mujibul Haque Chunnu.

August 10 was a scheduled date to pay the salaries to the Tuba Group workers for the month of July and there is still adequate time, he added while addressing a press conference at the BGMEA Bhaban in the capital today.

“Delwar Hossain, owner of the group, is bound to pay his workers within the mentioned date. The government will force him if he acts otherwise,” he warned.

As per the Labour law, factory owners have to pay all wages within the first ten days of the following month, he said: “We expect Tuba Group will comply with the rule.”

The minister also asked the agitating workers to shun the path of enforcing movement in the interest of peaceful environment in the country.
