Truck crashes into house

A teacher was killed and five students were injured when a lorry crashed into the roadside room he rented at Koromza village in Santhia upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased, Nazrul Islam, 30, of village Dhopadah, was a teacher of Dhopadah Dakhil Madrasa.

He was giving tuition to eight students in the room around 5:00pm when a Baghabari-bound tank lorry rammed into the study room. The incident left Nazrul dead on the spot.

The police rescued five injured from the scene. Of them, Rozina, 15, Kulsum, 16, and Sumi, 14, of class-X were admitted to Bera Upazila Health Complex with severe injuries.

Officer-in-Charge of Santhia Police Station Sahed Mahamud said the lorry driver had lost control over the steering.

The police seized the lorry but the driver fled, he added.
