Garment accessories trader Gias Uddin was killed in his Mirpur apartment on Sunday night by his               “wife's friend and two of his accomplices.”

Planned by wife Lovely Yasmin Lina, the murder was committed by her friend Tanvir Ahmed, an eleventh grader at a college, and his two associates Sadman Islam Mukto and Akibul Islam Jisan.

Police on Monday detained Lina, 29, for interrogation. Gleaning information from her, cops yesterday detained the trio, aged between 18 and 20, in the capital's Mirpur, said Salahuddin, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station.

Also college students, Mukto and Jisan are friends.

Talking to newsmen at the police station yesterday, Tanvir said he had been in a relationship with     Lina for about one year. Lina had been putting pressure on him to kill her husband. The murder was planned around one and a half months back.

“I made a deal with Mukto and Jisan to help me in the killing in exchange for Tk 30,000. Accordingly, I bought sticks and three pairs of       gloves from Mirpur area,” added Tanvir.

Around 8:30pm on Sunday, the three had been waiting in Gias' apartment at Mirpur-10 for his arrival. Gias entered the apartment around 10:00pm and was about to close the door when Tanvir hit the back of his head with a stick.

As the 35-year-old fell on the floor, the trio started beating him up, leaving him unconscious. The youths confirmed his death by pushing a cushion on his face.

Tanvir said Lina asked them to tie her up with ropes and also Gias's hands and legs to make the                 murder look like a killing during a burglary.

Mirpur police said they recovered sticks, three hand gloves and a knife from the apartment.

Filing of a case in this connection was underway last night.
