Mymensingh SP reports own driver to police for traffic violation

Mymensingh Traffic Police lodged a case against the driver of Superintendent of Police (Mymensingh) for breaking traffic rules in Mymensingh city last night after the SP reported his driver.

The incident occurred when the SP Md Ahmar Uzzaman's driver Md Abdul Quddus tried to drive the car over a road divider during a traffic jam in the city around 9:00pm, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

The SP was in the car and immediately informed the traffic police, the correspondent reports quoting Syed Mahbubur Rahman, a traffic inspector in Mymensingh.

As soon as they were informed, traffic sergeant Salman Khan lodged a case against the driver under Section-87 of Road Transport Act-2018 and fined him Tk 2,500.

The driver also had to hand over his driving license and would only get it back after he pays the fine through Sonali Bank within 10 days, said the traffic inspector.

The SP said the law is equal for everyone including his driver and he wanted to make sure he was setting an example for the police personnel.
