A concert was organised in New York's Manhattan on Monday with a message of providing assistance to the displaced Rohingya people of Myanmar.

Held at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, the concert was arranged by UN Chamber Music Society with assistance from the Brooklyn Raga Massive, according to a press release issued by the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations.

"This humanitarian crisis of the Rohingya refugees is a multi-faceted challenge for us," the press release said quoting Masud Bin Momen, Bangladesh Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN.

Masud Bin Momen also called upon United Nations and the international community to provide assistance to the Rohingya refugees.

Some 700,000 Rohingya people crossed the border from Myanmar's Rakhine state since August last year following persecution, and are now living in cramped camps at Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh.
