Toki's father Rafiur Rabbi buys nomination paper

Santrash Nirmul Mancha Convener Rafiur Rabbi today bought nomination papers to contest Narayanganj-5 by-poll as an independent candidate.

He collected the nomination paper from the Election Commission office in Narayanganj around 11:00am as selling of the paper started this morning.

AB Siddique and Abdur Rahman, president and secretary of Narayanganj Nagarik Committee, a citizens’ body, accompanied Rabbi, vice president of the committee, when he went to buy the nomination paper.

Rabbi, father of Tanvir Mohammad Toki who was killed by miscreants in March last year, yesterday declared to contest the by-poll scheduled to be held on June 26.

The constituency became vacant after the death of a Jatiya Party lawmaker Nasim Osman on April 30.

Toki, a student whose body was found in the river Shitalakkhya in Narayanganj two days after he had gone missing on March 6 last year. Rabbi had blamed Nasim's son Ajmeri Osman for killing Toki.
