Motorola eyeing for local manufacturing plant to bring glory days back

Launches moto g9 plus with a price-tag of BDT 27,999/-

Motorola is eyeing to establish a manufacturing plant in the country. Currently, they are in talks with the regulatory body, but the exact timeline is uncertain. These ambitious announcements were made in a press conference yesterday during the launching of moto g9 plus which is going to be sold in Daraz. Motorola, the USA origin smartphone manufacturer was immensely popular during the early periods when mobile phones were just entering the market. But due to intense competition and new offerings from other brands, Motorola was dwindled to point of oblivion until its recent comeback in Bangladesh nearly after a decade.

According to Mahamud Hossain, chairman of Salextra- the official dealer of Motorola in Bangladesh, Motorola wants to come back big in Bangladesh. "Ideally we would want to establish a plant as that would reduce the pricing dramatically. It would also open up opportunities for employment and maybe export in the long run.", he opined.

Sakib Arafat, the founder and managing director of Salextra informed the media that, more handsets and accessories will be made available in the country soon. "This is our third product this year", he said referring to the launching of moto g9 plus. "We are committed to bringing more products for our customers and so far the response has been pretty good", he added.

The key focus of the event was moto g9 plus, a mid-range smartphone with 64MP Quad Camera, Snapdragon 730G, 6GB RAM & 128 GB Storage, a 5000 mAh battery along with a 30W TurboPower charger and a 6.8" HDR10 Display. The usual price of the product is BDT 27,999/-. However, during the Daraz 12.12 campaign, customers will able to purchase the product for BDT 25,599/-.
