Tk 1 lakh bounty on Comilla arsonists

Authorities today announced a Tk 1 lakh reward for information leading to capture of the responsible arsonists who burned seven people alive in Comilla’s Chouddagram.

Comilla district superintendent of police, Tutul Chakraborty, announced the reward from a protest rally arranged near the accident site, reports a correspondent from Comilla.

At least seven people were killed and 16 burnt after miscreants fire-bombed a bus on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Chouddagram upazila of Comilla around 3:30am.

Unknown assailants fire-bombed the Dhaka-bound bus of Icon Paribahan from Cox’s Bazar in Jagamohanpur area, our Daudkandi correspondent reports quoting Monir Hossain, assistant director of Comilla Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Injured others are attending treatments at several hospitals including Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors say the conditions of two are critical.

Railway Minister Mujibul Haque and local administration visited the arson site and attended a protest rally organised nearby to in condemnation of the attack.
