Despite a strong showing by Bangladesh in the second Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka, the visitors won the match by three wickets at Chittagong.

Sachithra Senanayake hit the winning runs for the Lankans off the last ball of the innings, hitting Farhad Reza for a boundary with two runs needed off it.

Kumar Sangakkara once again proved his mettle in the shorter format of the game with a composed 37-run innings off 38 balls amid a clatter of wickets around him.

He was well supported by Thisara Perera, who scored 35 runs off 28 balls and guided the Lankan chase.

Mashrafe Mortaza claimed two wickets for 29 runs off four overs, with Arafat Sunny, Rubel Hossain, Shakib A Hasan and Mahmudullah taking one wicket each.

Bangladesh bowlers had to make up for a disappointing showing by their batting counterparts, as the hosts were dismissed for 120 off 19.5 overs.

Only four Bangladesh batsmen reached double figures, with debutant Sabbir Rahman top scoring with 26.

Lasith Malinga was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, claiming three scalps for 20 runs in 3.5 overs.

Nuwan Kulasekara and Sachithra Senanayake also chipped in with a couple of wickets each for 32 and 11 runs respectively.
