Three-day celebrations mark Nazrul Jayanti

A three day programme celebrating the 115th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, is being observed in Trishal.
The celebrations will begin today at Darirampur Nazrul Mancha and will continue till May 27. The programmes are organised by the Cultural Affairs Ministry and Mymensingh District administration.
A series of programmes have been chalked out, including colourful rallies, discussions, gathering of poets, plays and dance performances. Eminent artistes of the country will attend the cultural shows.
A three-day fair themed 'Nazrul Mela' will also be held. Finance Minister AMA Muhith, will inaugurate the celebrations as chief guest. Minister for Religious Affairs, Principal Motiur Rahman and advocate Reza Ali will be the special guests with Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will presided at the opening ceremony.
Poet Mohammad Nurul Huda will speak on Nazrul. Cultural Affairs Ministry secretary Ranajit Kumar Biswas will deliver the welcome address.
Meanwhile, Jatiyo Kobi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) has also undertaken a three-day programme at its campus. Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the celebrations as the chief guest with JKKNIU vice-chancellor Professor Mohit Ul Alam in the chair. Many prominent academics will attend the seminars on the life and works of Nazrul.
