Telecom, ICT merged into single ministry

The government has merged the post and telecommunication ministry with information and communication technology (ICT) ministry.

The new ministry has been named Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology, according to a government handout issued today.

Abdul Latif Siddique, who was given the charge of the telecom ministry after the formation of the new government on January 12, will continue as the minister of the new ministry.

The ministry would include two divisions -- Posts and Telecommunications Division and the Information and Communication Technology Division -- to fulfill the aims and objectives of the two ministries, the handout added.
